Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026

Trellis is the guidance and spiritual direction practice of John Chandler, based in Phoenix, Arizona. This policy explains what information this website (trellis.life) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. When it says “I” or “me,” that’s John.

Information you give me

When you fill out a form on this site, such as to contact me, subscribe to updates, sign up for a course, request a guide, RSVP, or make a payment, I receive what you enter. That is usually your name and email address, and sometimes a message, a phone number, or details about what you are interested in.

Payments and tips are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on this website. I receive a record of the payment, such as your name, email, and the amount.

Information collected automatically

• Analytics. I use Plausible Analytics to understand which pages are visited. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. It counts visits in aggregate, so I can’t identify you from it.
• Hosting and security. Like nearly every website, the services that host and protect this site (WP Engine, Cloudflare, and MalCare) process technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and block attacks.
• Spam protection. Form submissions are checked by Akismet to filter out spam.

How I use your information

• To reply to your messages and schedule time together
• To send the courses, guides, and updates you sign up for
• To process payments and keep records of them
• To understand how the site is used, so I can improve it

I don’t sell your information, and I don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Services that help me run the site

Your information is shared only with the service providers that help me do the things above:

• Email: Kit, MailerLite, and Mailchimp (sending courses and updates), and Mailgun (delivering email from the site)
• Payments: Stripe
• Notifications: Slack, which alerts me when a form is submitted
• Hosting, security, and spam protection: WP Engine, Cloudflare, MalCare, and Akismet
• Analytics: Plausible

Each has its own privacy policy and handles your information on my behalf.

Embedded content

Some pages include videos from YouTube and podcast audio from Blubrry. Videos are embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which sets no cookies until you play one. When you play a video or podcast, these services may collect information under their own privacy policies.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set a short-lived cookie to protect the site from bots, Stripe may set cookies on payment pages to prevent fraud, and YouTube may set cookies once you play a video.

Email and your choices

Every email I send includes a link to unsubscribe, and you can unsubscribe at any time. You can also contact me to ask what information I have about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and I will do so unless I need to keep it (for example, payment records I’m required to keep).

How long I keep information

I keep your information for as long as you are subscribed or we are working together, and for as long as needed for records such as payments. After that, I delete it.

If you live in the EU or UK

Data protection law there (the GDPR) gives you specific rights and asks me to explain the legal basis for each way I use your information:

• Consent: sending newsletters and updates. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
• Contract: delivering the courses, sessions, and payments you sign up for.
• Legitimate interests: replying to your messages, keeping records, and keeping the site secure.

You can ask to access, correct, delete, or export your information, and to restrict or object to how I use it. To do any of these, contact me. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Your information is stored and processed in the United States, by me and by the service providers listed above.

Spiritual direction and wisdom sessions

This policy covers the website. What we talk about in spiritual direction or wisdom sessions is confidential, as described in my spiritual direction agreement.

Children

This site is not intended for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If I change this policy, I will update it here and change the effective date above.
